Kyra graduated from the University of Glasgow with an LLB in Scots Law in 2019, before obtaining her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh in 2022.
Kyra also spent time studying at the University of Ghent, in Belgium, in 2018, where she developed an initial interest in criminal law and completed a course entitled ‘European Criminal Policy’.
Between graduating in 2019 and undertaking her Diploma in 2021, Kyra spent time working for several large commercial law firms in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Within these firms, she worked as a paralegal, and undertook conveyancing work for various high profile ‘house-builders’. In these roles, Kyra built up a significant amount of experience in dealing with property law transactions.
Kyra joined the firm in 2022 as a trainee solicitor. At Beltrami and Company, Kyra has gained experience working on both civil and criminal cases. She spent the majority of her first six months at the firm, focussing on civil work. During this time she gained experience in dealing with a variety of civil matters, including drafting cease and desist letters, challenging child maintenance liabilities, drafting pleadings for civil litigation cases and later, appearing at hearings in her own right. Her work with large scale commercial clients within previous roles, lends itself well to her civil work at Beltrami and Company, as she is commercially aware and experienced in assisting clients in achieving business objectives through legal means.
In more recent months, Kyra has also built up a substantial criminal case load. In doing so, she has appeared for clients within the Sheriff Court in several jurisdictions, for both summary and solemn proceedings. She has also instructed Senior and Junior Counsel in the High Court in relation to more serious allegations such as rape and murder. Kyra is very focussed on access to justice and believes that it is imperative that those accused of having committed crimes receive the best possible legal advice and representation available, in order to fight their case.
Kyra has a client-centred approach and aims to ensure that all clients feel heard and understood and that they are provided with legal advice and solutions which allow them to achieve desired results.
